Kontur: an exploration of linear light.

Designed by Sebastian Herkner, Vibia’s new Kontur collection is comprised of geometric shades accented by a black metal frame. It has a minimalist design, yet its sense of scale makes it a commanding feature light – one that’s on-trend and perfect for contemporary interiors.

Kontur comes in wall and pendant models with a choice of two silhouettes. Both of these silhouettes use striking geometric frames to house LED components, which are then diffused by a tubular opal glass shade, or reflected by a piece of thin convex metal. These respective silhouettes create different atmospheres, with the glass diffuser emitting a warm, all-encompassing glow and the metal reflector creating an angular, more precise lighting effect.

The Kontur range can be used to echo the sharp angles and clean lines found in modern interiors. In pendant form, its curved reflector pushes light downwards over boardroom tables, dining settings and desks. As a wall lamp, the reflector pushes light outwards and its metal frame cuts through the glow. The result is a graphic centrepiece, the perfect solution for large, bare walls.

Kontur’s cylindrical glass diffuser creates a more ambient environment. Its rounded form creates a softer lighting effect – perfect for intimate dining settings in hospitality venues or residential builds. As a wall lamp, its tubular form is like a glowing beacon that can be nestled next to doorways and bookshelves or throughout corridors.

The pure structure of the Kontur range makes it one of Vibia’s most versatile products to date. It balances the ambient with the architectural – an ultra-modern illuminant that’s perfect for every interior, from clean corporate fit-outs to upscale establishments.
